In Africa we have witnessed the barbarism of ethnich cleasing. From South Sudan to Kenya, from Rwanda to South Africa the savagery of ethnic conflict has reared it's horrendous head. Beyond Africa's shores there has been the terrible wars of eastern Europe such the wars of the former Yugoslavia and the Kosovo conflict. The middle-east has an almost permanent fight-to-the-death struggle between Israelis and Palestinians. India, Pakistan, Kashmir and Sri-Lanka are all theaters of ethnic cleasing activities. If not direct cleansing, there is nevertheless a process of debilitating degradation of one group by another.

Ethnic cleansing activities are carry-overs of ancient bigotries and illogical self-aggrandisement by certain ethnic groups. It is a form of mental stunting that refuses to accept the reality of the humanity of others. Because ethnic cleansing has to do with pathological hatred that is almost clinical in dimension it does not spare children and women. This is because the cleanser group hopes usually to systemically decimate all groups they deem unfit or sub-human. Destroying children therefore becomes the natural and logical outgrowth of the socio-political insanity that is ethnic cleansing. Children grow to become the adult of the hated group. Destroying them when they are young and defenceless becomes a temptation easily yielded to.
 
The progressive world needs to attack these archaic mind-sets and call people to reject such non-human mental positions. The earth is a machine of balance, everything in it has a mutually benficial purpose. This includes people groups and cultures. Ignorance of this fact leads to racism or xzyenophobia. Children are always a clean start for humanity, nobody knows what philosophies, loves and hates that they will hold. There is no child born inherently bent towards one culture or another. They have to learn to hate and to be hated, to be master and to be slave. Ethnic cleansing denies mankind the necessary variagation that leads to all the best that mankind has offer to creation. No one has the right to deny humanity its God-given variety.

The child dimension to ethnic-cleansing activities must be high-lighted and fought. It is not ever justifiable and is a form of social-stunting, a disease that leads to the destruction of the earth's purpose in the universe which is to reflect God's love and the harmony of all created things.
